Looking for volunteer opportunities for a child ages 5-12? Look no further than New Leash On Life’s Doggy Reading Groups. For an hour, they will have the opportunity to read to our rescue dogs while practicing their reading skills and building confidence, and learning about animal awareness, care, and safety. There is no better way to spend time with your family and with our adorable adoptables. Sign up to volunteer at newleash.org and we will see you at our next reading group!
At New Leash On Life, it should be no surprise that our professional staff care for our rescue and boarding dog's health and safety. That is why this past weekend we had the wonderful Denise from Sunny-Dog Ink teach Pet CPR and First Aid to our entire staff and a few volunteers. It was a rousing success, where we learned how to assess a situation, remain calm, and use CPR and First Aid skills.
NEW clients of H&R Block can file their taxes AND help New Leash On Life!
We are enrolled in their Nonprofit Referral Program – from now until April 15th, print and take in this referral form to the H&R Block of your choice. Show it your tax professional, and we will receive $20! That money goes a long way to rescue dogs from shelters and implement our many wonderful programs!
Don’t forget you can also donate to us year round - http://nlol.org/donate.
Anthony and his fellow Boy Scouts are our “Favorite Volunteers of the Day”! Not only did they build two new benches for our pool area, but they also planted trees and installed a new dog door. We love and appreciate projects that benefit our dogs and the longevity and beautification of our facility. Would you like to volunteer at New Leash On Life or start a project with your Boy or Girl Scout troop? Please contact us and we can see if we would be a good fit – firstname.lastname@example.org.
Who doesn't have errands to run on the weekends? The good news is you can cross off your to-do list and meet our adoptable dogs at the same time. In addition, ask our staff about boarding and training opportunities and sign up to volunteer with us. It is a win-win situation! Visit http://nlol.org/adoption-events for the locations, days, and times of our mobile pet adoptions. See you there!
Remember back in December when we announced our office renovation (http://nlol.org/blog/donation-items-needed-office-renovation-project)? It is still moving along, especially with the help of our wonderful volunteers. Here is volunteer Ally painting away. Thank you, Ally!

February is doggy dental month! Though we humans tend to brush at least twice a day, our canine friends are often overlooked in the dental department. Cleaning your dog’s teeth is just as important for their health as it is for ours! Dogs are susceptible to illnesses such as kidney disease if a gum infection goes unnoticed. There are several signs to look for to know if your dog might be suffering from dental disease including:
· Yellow, plaque buildup along the gum line
· Bad breath
