Lenny is one of NLOL's newest additions. When we first met this sweet boy at Animal Care and Control, we affectionately dubbed him "Mr. Matted Monster" because his former owner (if he ever had one) had neglected him and his coat to the point where he looked like something out of a child's nightmare. His coat was long, matted, and smelly, and his personality was very subdued by the mounds of clumpy hair everywhere. When we had him outside to get to know him, countless volunteers approached us and asked what had happened to the little man. Unfortunately we don't know anything about his past, but we knew that we could make his future much brighter with a pair of clippers and some TLC... so we transferred Mr. Matted Monster to NLOL and got to work!
Thanks to Lana and staff at Paws-A-Tively (109 W. North Ave. in Chicago) our Mr. Matted Monster is no longer suffering in his dreadlocked state - he looks and acts like a totally new dog! Poor Lenny lost over 3 pounds just in hair from his grooming, and now the full extent of his emaciation is quite evident. Poor boy! His optimistic personality and sweet nature have not flagged, however, and we look forward to helping Lenny regain his lost weight and find the home he was always meant to have.
Lenny has met a few other NLOL dogs and he gets along with them just fine. He has not yet been cat-tested, but he does not appear to have a high prey drive and NLOL is happy to cat-test for any interested adoptive parents. Due to his age, Lenny may best be placed in a home without young kids, but that will likely depend on the individual children in question. Please contact NLOL today for more info or to meet or adopt this special little guy.
