Althea is a sweet and cuddly little pit bull gal who was patiently waiting for us on one of our past trips to Animal Care and Control. She was dropped off there by a person who didn't feel like waiting in line to properly relinquish this beautiful girl, so he just took off her collar and leash and walked out without her. Poor Althea was so confused - and so was ACC, because they didn't know if the mystery man was her former owner or someone who'd found her as a stray! Because of this unusual relinquishment, ACC held Althea for five days in case she was a stray, but no one claimed her. Fortunately for us, she was saved from euthanasia by our friends at ACC and we were happy to take her into our program.

Althea is a huge love bug and is always full of kisses and wags for her human friends. She is incredibly smart and very food motivated. She learns commands incredibly quickly, and like your typical pit bull pal, is always eager to please. Unfortunately due to her poor socialization skills before coming to NLOL, she can be weary of strangers and nervous in unfamiliar settings. Althea will need someone who is committed to working with her and socializing her on a daily basis. We are only accepting applications from families who have had previous bully experience. We will not adopt Althea to a first time dog owner or non-bully experienced owner. It is very important that the family who adopts her understands her breed and is able to help Althea blossom into a trusting, confident dog. She needs a strong, positive leader who will be firm yet compassionate.

Althea is currently living in one of our partner boarding facilities where she is a staff favorite. She also has a few boyfriends who she plays with on a regular basis. Althea does get along with some submissive male dogs, so if it is the right match, she may be able to be placed in a household with male canine friend. This stunning gal is ready and waiting to find a foster or forever home.

Please contact us today to meet, foster, or adopt Althea!
