Quinn is a shy girl who we couldn't leave behind on a recent trip to Chicago Animal Care and Control. Despite her initial shyness and hesitation around our intake directors, we decided to give her a shot with NLOL after we discovered that she would be slated for euthanasia otherwise. We're lucky that we did - she has blossomed into a sweet and loving girl and we're happy to have her as part of our family!
Quinn is currently in a foster home with experienced foster parents who trained their own dog (NLOL alum Dakota) out of his initial debilitating shyness. They've already helped Quinn become a much happier, more confident dog! She still has a ways to go, but her foster parents say she is "breaking the shell." She is more comfortable with women than men, but she does come around to most people, given time to get to know them. She is a big snuggler with the people she trusts, always happy to cuddle up on the couch and roll over for a belly rub.
Quinn LOVES other dogs, and would do best in a home with another dog to play with and learn from. She is in the NLOL training program and is learning to walk nicely on leash, though she still gets excited and pulls whenever she sees another doggy headed her way! Quinn is housebroken and very polite in the home, though she does have a funny habit of hoarding belongings -- not chewing them, just collecting the odd shoe, toy, or leash. She has a surprisingly big bark for such a little dog, but it is primarily reserved for squirrels in the yard.
This special girl needs a home with a handler who will help her continue to gain confidence and skills. She may never be a "social butterfly," but with a loving home and continued training and socialization, she will be a wonderful companion! Quinn has been gentle with the children she has met, but because of her timid nature we recommend that any kids in the home be older and respectful of her space.
