Hi! This is Halsted! Halsted loves LIFE! This goofy guy may be eight years old in body, but he's definitely a young pup at heart. Halsted is 100% lab: happy, silly, energetic and fun. If he had an inner monologue, it would probably say "oh boy oh boy oh boy!" Halsted is currently healthy as a horse, with only a few fatty lumps and white hairs to betray his age. We're still getting to know the big guy, but so far he is a bouncy bundle of love (and licks). Halsted previous owners must not have spent much time training him, because his manners are a little rough, but he is learning quickly that good things come to those who sit on command.
Halsted is also learning not to greet people with a big bear hug; due to his size and energy level, he may not be the best match for a family with small children. Older kids are another story - Halsted would probably be a great fit for a family with pre-teens/teenagers willing to pitch in and help raise the family dog. As he is aging, he may need to be monitored for signs of aches and pains, but he would make an excellent companion for walks around the neighborhood and romps in the yard. He's also a great candidate for adult dog obedience class; continued training is a good way to exercize a dog's body and brain, and one of the best ways to bond with a new canine family member. With his goofy grin and enthusiasm, Halsted is sure to be a star in class, and in his new forever home.
