Allie came into our program as a seemingly normal healthy puppy. However, we learned very quickly that she actually has debilitating hip dysplasia on both sides - so bad, in fact, that she will have to have surgery on both sides to give her proper mobility and better comfort.
Allie will receive a different surgery on each hip. The more severely affected hip will receive a total hip replacement. This is a very complicated and expensive procedure, but it is the best option for her given her size and age. The second less malformed hip will receive a femoral head osteotomy (FHO) which will make her just as good as new!
