VOLUNTEERING

New Leash On Life owes much of its success to our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers play a key role in continuing New Leash On Life's mission of finding loving, responsible homes for abandoned animals. New Leash On Life Chicago is 100% volunteer run! Volunteer today and help make a difference in the lives of our city's abandoned and homeless dogs.

If you're at least 18 years old and have an interest in becoming a volunteer, fill out our online Volunteer Application.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Adoption Events

Adoption Counselors

Adoption Events are held every weekend in the Chicagoland area. Volunteers are assigned one dog or puppy to handle during the adoption event. They inform the public about our organization and help educate them on responsible pet ownership.

Volunteers assist in matching potential owners with dogs suitable to their lifestyle. They screen and counsel potential adopters, conduct home visits to ensure the safety of the animal, and perform post-adoption services. They are directly responsible for giving our animals a “New Leash On Life.”

Fostering

Additional Opportunities

Becoming a foster parent is a great way to get directly involved in rescue work. Our dogs benefit from a home environment and the personal care, attention and training given by the foster parent is invaluable.

Foster volunteers provide a temporary, loving home until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. New Leash On Life provides for the animal’s food and medical needs. Fill out a Foster Application if you are interested in fostering.

There are many other areas in which we need your help:

  • Transportation

  • Special Events

  • Fundraising

  • Clerical
