Mobile Pet Adoptions (MPAs) are held on a Saturday,
in Woodland Hills, Calabasas and Los Angeles. Volunteers
are assigned one dog or puppy to handle during the adoption. They inform the public about our
organization, our Lend a Paw program and help educate them on responsible pet ownership. |
All NLOL dogs that are placed, at a minimum, will have
basic obedience training and be well socialized. Volunteers are
required to attend a training course where they will be instructed on how
to train a dog. Trainers will need to attend some Mobile Pet
Adoptions and work with the dogs at the E.R.A. Center. |
Our P.E.T.s program is designed to teach elementary
school children how to responsibly care for animals in and outside of the home.
Our P.E.T.s visit schools and conduct a hands-on course in the
classroom as well as give educational seminars. Teach the children of today to be
responsible pet owners of tomorrow. |
Although all volunteers will
receive training prior to handling any animals, volunteers that show an
interest and have the skills needed, may be invited to join our Lend a Paw
Training Team. Lend a Paw Trainers educate dogs on basic commands,
socialization, advanced training (off-leash), and environmental
training. Lend a Paw Trainers must attend a weekly training seminar
and commit to training a dog at least once a week at our E.R.A. Center. |
Becoming a foster parent is a
great way to get directly involved in rescue work. Our dogs
benefit from a home environment and the personal care, attention and training
given by the foster parent is invaluable.
There are foster opportunities for:

This new need has arisen as a result of our desire to train all dogs.
Instead of walking dogs which will already be exercised everyday by the
trainers, volunteers are welcome to come to the ranch and spend time
brushing, petting, and sitting with the animals. This is a good opportunity
for volunteer families (volunteers under the age of 16 and their parents)
to become involved with the rescue dogs. |
As a non-profit
corporation, New Leash On Life relies upon donations from private
individuals and corporations. Assistance is always needed in
ongoing fundraising projects. Some of these projects include:
|
Year-round office and
administrative projects, which include computer/data input and updates,
NLOL event photography, and contributions to the NLOL Newsletter are always
needed. |
We hold
two annual fundraising events:
|
Volunteers make a
commitment to work 4 hours per month.
We require that volunteers
be at least 16 years of age to participate at adoptions or be involved
in Lend a Paw.
Under aged volunteers may be able to help socialize, walk and groom the dogs at our E.R.A. Center.
